The incident happened around 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 11, near the soccer fields, when a white man with three leashed dogs helped the child look for a lost watch, according to the Frederick County Health Department.
The largest of the three dogs scratched the child before the owner left the area, officials said.
Now, officials are urging the dog owner—or anyone with information—to come forward.
If the animal is confirmed to be in good health after 10 days, the child can avoid costly rabies treatment, officials said.
Anyone with information about the dog is asked to call Frederick County Animal Control at 301-600-1544.
